Dan Harris

Dan has been a lawyer for 20+ years. He has been called to the English Bar and admitted as a solicitor in England. He has also been admitted to practice in New York and the Cayman Islands. Dan previously owned and built DHCI, a leading boutique law firm advising many of the world’s leading hedge funds, before it was sold in 2012. 

Having practiced in New York, the Cayman Islands and in London, Dan’s expertise is in both transactional and advisory covering the full range of trading and financing issues across fixed income and equity strategies. He is recognised as having a leading ESG practice within the hedge fund space and has been quoted in the financial press in that area.

In addition, Dan has provided expert evidence on prime brokerage and securities lending issues in major litigation in the Chancery Division of the High Court and has published multiple academic articles in leading peer-reviewed legal journals.

Dan is an experienced transactional and advisory lawyer with a particular focus on buy-side clients including hedge funds, asset managers, UK pension funds and corporate treasuries. Dan’s practice covers the full range of transactional documentation and associated issues in relation to prime brokerage, derivative trading, custody and clearing on a UK and cross-border basis.

James is a specialist in prime brokerage, derivatives and general financial markets trading. He advises investment funds, hedge funds, asset managers, corporates, family offices and other financial institutions across a wide range of trading, hedging and financing transactions and related documentation. 

James has significant market expertise and experience advising on a broad range of assets classes and product types including prime brokerage, derivatives (both cleared and over-the-counter), stock lending, repurchase transactions and associated regulatory issues. James has experience of working in-house on the ‘sell-side’ and also the ‘buy-side’ having been seconded to two of Europe’s largest hedge fund managers.
 

Damian Morris

Damian has specialised as an in-house counsel in the top tier of the Financial Services sector for over 20 years. He ran the EMEA Prime Brokerage functions at each of Goldman Sachs and Merrill Lynch, before spending 5 years at Credit Suisse, latterly heading legal coverage for the EMEA Sales and Trading businesses. 

In October 2010 he joined ICAP Plc as General Counsel, EMEA, adding APAC to his remit in April 2013, before a time as Co-Group GC during the separation of ICAP’s businesses in preparation of the sale of its broking division to Tullett Prebon Plc. He was a member of the senior executive team that transferred to Tulletts in December 2016, and left TP ICAP Plc in June 2017.  He was included on Legal Business’ GC Power List in 2016, as well as receiving team and personal nominations at the British Legal Awards that same year.
